Successful Erasmus + Ka2 Project Submission
Saturday, on the 17th of May took place the activities of the Drin River Day for Albania by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. These were organized in Shkodra, Vau I Dejës, with the participation of the local and central governing entities and the civilians. The Architecture Department of Epoka University together with the Center of Research and Design in Architecture (CoRDA) were invited to participate in the event in order to exhibit a study concerning water resources management and revitalization in the city of Shkodra.
The research project, firstly a product of the Fall 2013 term work by 4th year architecture students, and secondly elaborated by the research unit of the university, was exhibited during the event for all the present citizens. The “Buna River Revitalization Project” aimed to create strategies to:
- Create a Riverfront for all
- Promote and develop the Buna Riverfront as the focal point for Shkodra throughout all seasons of the year
- Put the shoreline and innovative, sustainable design at the forefront
- Reconnect the city to its Riverfront
- Embrace and celebrate Shkodra`s past, present and future
- Improve access and mobility
- Create a bold vision that is adaptable over time
